Pia Penaranda, our Business Manager and the internal co-ordinator of the Skilled Migrant Programme, gave a presentation last week to skilled migrant graduates. The presentation was aimed at new migrants to New Zealand and discussed ways to stand out and be positive about job seeking.
One of the most helpful slides of this presentation included a huge list of recruitment agencies that we recommend. (The Johnson Group has a very specific focus on government jobs, and particularly our key areas of policy analysts, policy advisors, communications, legal, HR, research and evaluation, and managerial positions. Because of this, we aren't always the right agency for people to use, particularly if they're interested in commercial business roles or areas we simply don't handle, such as IT and sales job opportunities.)
We didn't film Pia's presentation, unfortunately, but we do have the powerpoint notes. I've attached them to this blog - let me know if you have trouble downloading them!
Yesterday I blogged about the breakfast Leigh hosted for the RCSA with speaker Ross Clennett. If you're interested in Ross Clennett's speech, you can download it from Ross Clennett's website.
Here's a description of the talk "Recruitment in the 21st Century: The Era of ‘Brand You’" from his website:
"Popular RCSA presenter and recruitment industry trainer, coach and commentator, Ross Clennett presents a compelling case for recruiters to mix the ‘old’ and ‘new’ to provide an even more compelling option for candidates and clients seeking a high quality recruiter to work with.
Hear Ross talk about:
* How the role of recruitment consultants has evolved in the past 30 years
* The two ‘game changers’ that appeared in 1998
* How recruiters who are winning are responding to the new era
* How recruiters who are losing are responding to the new era
* How to build a personal brand to source and attract candidates and clients
* What you can do as soon as you get back to your desk to build ‘Brand You’"
