Jobs for PhD and Post Doctoral Researchers

Recently our GM, Campbell, has been travelling to Universities around the country with the Royal Society NZ, FoRST and Immigration NZ (DoL) and contributing to half day work shops for Emerging Researchers. Much of the workshops content has focussed on practical skills linked to gaining employment, such as sourcing funding, networking and researching in NZ as a migrant.

What really struck Campbell is the under-utilisation of this part of our workforce. 68.8% of PhD and Post Doctoral Researchers - some of New Zealand's most highly qualified people - end up in employment unrelated to research, or become unemployed.
