Welcome to The Johnson Group. We’re glad to have you join our valued team of contractors.
Our in-depth knowledge of the public sector makes us the first choice for public sector clients looking for contractors. We have a reputation for supplying high-quality staff.
We do more than just match people to jobs—we build long-term relationships with our contractors and we actively promote them to clients. We want our contractors to find the work that suits them best.
Contracting with The Johnson Group
As an independent contractor, this means that you are self-employed and contract your services out to clients, via The Johnson Group.
When requested by our clients, we engage the services of contractors, such as yourself, to deliver on specific assignments, i.e., contracts.
Each contract has a Service Agreement, which will be agreed upon by The Johnson Group, the Client, and the Contractor.
The Contractor (you) will invoice The Johnson Group for your services. As independent contracts are self-employed, you are not entitled to receive employment benefits such as sick/annual leave or holiday pay. Contractors are also required to pay their own taxes and ACC levies.
ACC LEVIES
All New Zealanders are required to pay an ACC levy. As a self-employed contractor you will be required to pay your own levy, which covers you for work and non-work-related injuries.

INSURANCE
TJG Contractors are required to have Professional Indemnity and Public Liability Insurances.
Public Liability insurance protects you and your business against the financial implications of damage, loss, illness, or injury not covered by the ACC.
Professional indemnity insurance covers you from any risk of making a professional mistake.
If you do not have either of these and would like some guidance, please let your consultant know.
Health & Safety
Your safety in the workplace is paramount.
We adhere to our responsibilities under the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015, to ensure your safety and awareness of issues in the Act. You also have responsibilities for your own Health and Safety which includes notifying your designated Health and Safety representative if any accidents occur, identifying hazards in your work space and bringing these to both the client and our attention, and being aware of and looking out for your own stress and overuse indicators.
